Becca Dent Hanagan is an emerging artist living in Philadelphia whose illustration work primarily focuses on portraiture. Since receiving a BFA from Moore College of Art & Design in 2005, Becca has been working at the Free Library of Philadelphia, promoting the arts and molding young minds for the LEAP After -School program.
Over the years, Becca has worked relentlessly to hone her skills and find her voice. Her love of arts and community has led her into teaching, both children and adults, and has continued as a way to bring a positive artistic impact to the world around her. She deeply enjoys sharing creative ideas and in this spirit has curated several local art exhibits.
Her illustrated work can be found online, at an artist-run retail shop specifically for Philadelphia area artists, as well as at various outdoor market events with her brand, Memento Vivere Vignettes.
Although she has created many two dimensional artworks in a variety of mediums, she prefers the look and tone of an image hand drawn in graphite. Each piece is thoughtfully executed in a delicate manner that conveys the sorrow of love and loss and new beginnings. The human condition.
Becca’s work is inspired by her love of classic horror tales, along with a visual fascination of religious symbolism and cultural heritages.
One thing for sure, it comes straight from her heart.
